i have manage to get a basic gallente scout suit fit with nova knives and a rail rifle i can also fit either an active scanner or a miltia drop uplink. i have been reading the forums and yes i know that the rail rifle is op but i only started last night and need all the help i can get.
i have been able to kill several people with the basic knives but often end up with one kill and 10 deaths. though the use of the active scanner has enabled me to go positive.
my issue seems to be that people know im there. and with chanrged knives i cant get close enough. and that you have been scanned message isnt helping haha.
are there any groups out there that train new scouts? this game is good fun im just finding it very hard to get to grips with. |

Just recently my legacy was taken down, a corporation called BSOTT (Bojo's School of the Trades). I am now taking on 2-3 younglings under my wing to teach them the ways. A few other people will be doing similarly with other players of other types. I'm offering you a seat.
I'm a vet and have been playing my role as of a year now, ever since Tranquility shift (when this game integrated with EVE)
ive seen a few of your guides. id love to take you up on the offer. thank you everyone who didnt attempt to troll me. |

As you've clearly chosen the killing (boring) type, I'll give this advice: You are your team's surprise nadpunch. Stick to the side until your teammates have the enemy distracted, then run up behind them and shove your weapon of choice up their ass.
im not just a killer. how is killing the boring type? honestly you have me confused, but so does the game haha. |

Demon Buddah wrote:Well right now with just a basic frame you aren't going to be much good. You need to get the actual scout suit. Another thing would be your dampening skill, at least 3. And biotic skills for sure.
Secondly, if you're going to use knives, You need to train them to 5. The Zns are only good I find if they are on a Minnie scout.
And lastly, you can look up the channel "Scouts United". You will definitely get help in there. If you don't get any help I will try to look you up and I will help you. i do have the actual scout suit. its the first thing i got because of the price of the basic frame. scout is 4k less. and thosse skill books hurt my wallet =) |

Im a minmatar scout btw. so far my kdr with the xout is around 2.50 from the weekly leaderboard since all i ran this week was scouts. Is 2.50 bad or good? Depends if you were scouting, sniping or tanking. If the first you are good since if everything was equal a KDR less then 1 is the average (ie due to clipping clones get stuck and have to suicide, over cooked hand grenades, MDs at point blank etc). I would like to see your module and weapon selection. Cmplx Shield Extender, basic shield extender, basic shotgun, basic smg, locus nade, quantum scanner, enh or basic armor rep, enh dampner So a new scout not a new player. Shotgun alone requires Weaponry 4 which would eat up a large chunk of a starting players 500k SP. I might have to try the armour rep and fold and try the scanner
yeah weapony 4 is out of my reach atm. any skills i have atm are one or two. id love to use a shotgun but its to much sp atm. and im to easily spotted. and i hadnt relised that there is an incoming scout nerf. so i think im not going to put any sp into weapons till we know excalty what that is. though fluxs sound fun i die a lot killing red equipment on the ground. and id also like to try remote explosives. but i dont know if we are going to even have a nade slot soon. so very confusing haha.

I used to use one when hacking, mainly to avoid areas with multiple reds I could not take on.
What I would recommend is skilling into REs for your equipment slot. Even just one level does wonders. The are tons of fun, and once you get used to them you can take down tanks.
Good luck brother knifer.
the problem is without a scanner i cant see what is around me. im alrady getting zero kills most games. and without my scanner i wont get even one. ive manged 3 kills in the last few games ive played today. man this is hard work. |

Running the Gal scout, you have an advantage with scanning range. Think about where you want to stick scanning range and precision skills in your future SP spending. Word is that if you get them skilled up enough as a Gal, you are like a walking scanner. Esp if you end up adding a range increasing module.
yeaps but till then i need all the help i can get from mods. this really is hard lol. though i did just manage to kill a sniper in that red hash area. stabbed him right in the face. made all 9 deaths worth it. |

Tch Tch wrote:Good rule of thumb is that you will as a scout beat a scanner of the same level as your dampener and scout skill.
Ie a Basic scout and dampener will beat a basic scanner Adv scout (skill level not suit) and adv dampener will beat a basic scanner
Don't over rely on scanners. Scouts can use them to figure out you are nearby and that you can't see them. So as a scout you might think you are safe but a fellow scout is waiting for you. So situational awareness is a good thing to learn.
Play with a MLT shotgun and you will learn how sneaky scouts can be.
oh cool i hadnt relised there was a miltia shotgun. praise be i can use one without weapon 4. buh bye rail rifle =)
